Take a tumble down the rabbit hole at this Alice in Wonderland-themed indoor picnic with whimsical afternoon tea, fresh bakes & live shows

It’s pretty hard to avoid the heat, humidity and bugs when it comes to picnicking in Singapore (a small price to pay for living in a tropical garden city!), and many of us probably don’t go on these fun little adventures as often as we’d like thanks to that.

Thanks to The Secret Patio and their new Have I Gone Mad? pop-up event, not only can you now experience a lovely indoor picnic with your loved ones minus the heat and bugs, you’ll also be wowed by the wondrous Alice in Wonderland-inspired theme.

Upon stepping in, you’ll see that the picnic space is split into two main zones. Head into the Red Queen’s Garden and you’ll be pleasantly greeted by quirky topiary trees and shrubs, fairytale-like floral swings and floating butterflies.

It really gives off a similar vibe to the garden where Alice first encountered the Red Queen in the original story, and makes for a super IG and/or TikTok-worthy picnic spot as well!

Next, move along into the Floral Forest, which is filled with gigantic flowers and butterflies —- just like when Alice turned really tiny after drinking one of the potions in the story. The picnic spot is also decorated with thoughtfully arranged fresh flowers to add a more dainty and pretty touch to the theme.

Apart from the available zones, let’s get into the most important thing in a picnic — the food. With each booking, you’ll get two full-sized pastries freshly baked from Bakery Brera (a bakery that uses ingredients from France and Japan!).

Of course if you’d like to have more, you can definitely purchase the other pastries available ala carte for your picnic as well.

There’s a myriad of teas and drinks that you can order as well, but the most eye-catching is perhaps the alcoholic cocktails that come in ‘Drink Me’ potion bottles. Don’t worry — you won’t shrink or grow with this one!

The picnic will also be set up in a quirky Mad Hatter-style, so don’t be shocked when you see that it’s messy and a little all over the place — the trippy-ness is the fun in this theme after all.

To make things a tad more interesting, you’ll get a free pot of mystery tea when you come as a group of four. You might also want to dress according to the Alice in Wonderland theme.  Who knows, something interesting might just happen then. *hint hint*

There’s also live shows with the Mad Hatter and a chance to win a surprise treasure box for every group — you probably wouldn’t get such entertainment on a picnic at the park!

So if you’re looking for something whole and exciting to do, definitely check out The Secret Patio at Duxton Hill.
