12 animal cafes and more in Singapore to help you pet your stress away with chow chows, ragamuffins, pugs & corgis too

by Vivian Ng and

What’s a better way to de-stress after than by interacting with some seriously adorable animals? Though there aren’t as many animal cafes in Singapore as compared to other countries like South Korea and Taiwan, there are still several pretty good ones that can help fill the space in our animal-lovin’ hearts — with some that you might not have even heard of.

If you’re in need of some serious cuddle time, here are 12 animal cafes and more in Singapore where you can get up close to the cutest creatures!

Editor’s Note:

We enjoy animal-related establishments as it gives us the opportunity to interact with our favourite animals – and as animal lovers, we can’t ignore the ethical issues that revolve around this. From animal cafes to pet shops and catteries, there are a wide range of ethical concerns when it comes to animal welfare such as the treatment of the animals, or ethical breeding at pet shops and catteries.

As we share some really great animal cafes, pet shops and catteries to visit, we strongly urge everyone to treat these animals gently, and if you have seen signs that the animals are not being well taken care of, please highlight it to us immediately. If you are considering getting a pet, we would also encourage you to consider adoption options first if possible. There are plenty of lovable animals waiting for a good home at places like SoSD, Cat Welfare Society, and the SPCA!

We are the Furballs (WTF) is a dog cafe with puppers packed with personality. With friendly staff and even friendlier dogs, this is a haven that you won’t want to leave after stepping in.

Situated at Bugis+, this spacious cafe oozes Muji vibes. Wooden crates and comfy corners line up against white clean walls, providing a minimalistic yet farm-like ambience. These absent-minded puppers may also seem aloof in the beginning, but wait till you enter with some dog treats (S$3) — you’ll instantly become the most popular person in the room!

Even though the cafe is still open for petting sessions, no food will be served during this period until further notice. Customers will still get complimentary drinks, but it’ll only be in the form of canned drinks for takeaways only.

At this cafe, spot Waffles and his cute corgi butt straddling down the hallway; Buibui, the french bulldog with puppy eyes too cute to resist; Mochi, the shy and adorable maltese, and many more. You can also train your fur friends to perform simple tricks like “sit”, “paw” or “bang” — just don’t forget to reward them afterwards!

Get snuggly with these gentle cats or give them some soothing head rubs. These cats love to be around humans during playtime. Less conventional compared to other cat cafes, Wildflower Studio is a home-based art jamming cafe that allows you to hang out with cats. They’re only open on weekends, and offer sessions to both adults and children on separate days. Essential equipment like paintbrushes, canvas and paint would all be provided by the home studio cafe.

The best part of this experience is having these kitties snuggling up to you while you’re working on that inner Picasso. Art jamming and cats? Sounds like an awesome date idea to me.

PS: They also run a cat fostering programme and help socialise feral cats so these babies can have a chance at a forever home. If you’re considering getting a cat, their fostered kitties are available for adoption too!

The Cat Cafe also provides the cats with plenty of space to run about and darker spaces for them to snooze. It’s a friendly and healthy environment for the adorable feline, but do remain gentle and patient with the cats.

Customers are allowed to pat the cats and play with these nimble little ninjas. With so many cute cats and distinct personalities, it’s bound to delight you and your friends.

Here’s a special mention: for those feeling a tad more adventurous, check out Jurong Frog Farm — Singapore’s only heritage frog farm. This might sound a little morbid after just interacting with the frogs, but you’re also able to sample some frog meat as well. (Although if you’re faint-hearted and want to be able to continue enjoying your favourite frog porridge, you might maybe want to sit this one out!)
