In need of a quick escape from city life? And no, we’re not referring to JB.
Nothing beats sailing off to a remote island to enjoy some scenic views whilst eating yummy food. And that is exactly what you can do in Batam — located just an hour away from Singapore by ferry.
If you’re an avid cafe hopper who’s tired of your usual cafe haunts, fret not, because we’ve compiled 10 most IG-worthy cafes in Batam with affordable fare and unique concepts like alfresco dining, floating bars, stunning beach views and more.
1. De’sands Cafe and Restaurant
Ever wanted to visit Europe, or specifically Greece?
De’sands Cafe and Restaurant bears a striking resemblance to the idyllic island, Santorini.
Think white-washed, cubiform houses with blue accents and narrow stone archways with LED arches to take all your photos for the ‘gram (and it won’t cost you a fortune just to travel there).
The dishes served are inspired by Mediterranean cuisine but with a creative Asian twist.
Feast on the Angkringan Platter (S$2.60, IDR $29,900) that comes with mixed assorted skewers like chicken, beef or the Sotong Pepper Ala Thai (S$3, IDR $98,000).
Best yet, this is one of the many cafes in Batam that open till late for you to enjoy the breathtaking night view.

2. Veranta Cafe
Soak up the peaceful ambience at Veranta Cafe as it is one of the few beach cafes in Batam amongst this compilation.
If you thought the previous cafe was aesthetic, this cafe will transport you to Bali, from the coastal furniture and palm thatch roof to the huge palm trees.
Nothing is more satisfying than a Crispy Chicken Burger (S$6.80, IDR $79,000) with crinkle cut fries.
But, if you want a taste of local flavours, try out the Desa Alam Nasi Goreng Kampoeng (S$6.80, IDR $79,000) for an extra satisfying lunch.

3. Alio Beach Cafe
Alternatively, Alio Beach Cafe gives you a scenic view of the beach (and it is opened way later than the previous cafe).
For a more unique and chill cafe experience, perch yourself on one of the many comfy bean bags scattered around the beach.
They have value-for-money main courses ranging from Grilled Chicken Steak and Crispy Chicken Steak priced at S$3.30 (IDR $38,000) to Sirloin Steak (S$4.20, IDR $48,000).
Honestly, where can you find such an affordable steak that won’t break the bank?

4. Itsumo Tart Cafe
Just a mere five-minute walk away from Batam City Square Shopping Mall, Itsumo Tart Cafe specialises in artisanal tarts, tea, and soft serve ice cream from just S$3.60 (IDR $42,000).
This modern and zen cafe is definitely worth dropping by after a day’s worth of shopping for some refreshing sweet treats.
I’m talking Hokkaido Milk Tea Tart (S$3.90, IDR $45,000) and Aiko (S$3, IDR $35,000) which is a special-made cream cheese soft serve that comes in either a waffle cone or cup — a refreshing treat to fuel your day.

Kembang Ayu Cafe and Snack is a halal-certified cafe that’s sooo Barbie core.
It’s completely decked out in flora and greenery with pink velvety chairs and a sparkling chandelier — how cute is that?
They serve a good variation of Nasi Liwet (Indonesian coconut rice dish) that comes in hearty portions, ranging from S$3.90–S$4.80 (IDR $45,000–$55,000).
For anyone planning a girl’s day out to cafes in Batam, this would make such a cute lunch spot for IG-worthy videos.

6. iMPRESSO
Located just ten minutes away from Kembang Ayu is iMPRESSO, a homey cafe with indoor and outdoor seating.
Personally, I’d prefer the outdoor setting as you’ll be surrounded with an array of plants on a gravel flooring, with the sunlight beaming down (very zen and peaceful).
Don’t you think the natural lighting would also make for gorgeous food shots?
Anybody who loves spicy food should go for a hearty plate of Nasi Goreng Ayam Sambal Matah (S$4.10, IDR $47,000).

7. Mula Patisserie
Mula Patisserie is a hole-in-the-wall rustic cafe that sells crepe cones from S$3 (IDR $35,000).
Completely decked out with wooden furniture, flooring and frames, it makes the cafe’s ambience even more cosy.
The signature S$3 (IDR $35,000) Crepe Brulee (pun intended) has a soft shell unlike the crispy crepe that we’d usually find back home.
As such, it pairs really well with the creamy custard and strawberries hidden inside.
But, if you have a massive sweet tooth, get the Pink Star (S$3.85, IDR 45,000) topped with a generous serving of whipped cream and fresh strawberries.

Nothing beats having a full American-style breakfast like the Mommas Breakfast Platter (S$12, IDR $140) served with two fully homestyle pancakes, two sunny side up eggs, skillet potatoes, fresh cut fruit, and grilled turkey ham.

If it gets too crowded, you can always head up to the loft or outdoors.
Tuck into the rice bowls including Garlic Gyudon (S$5 IDR $58,000) and Chicken XO Rice (S$4.10 IDR $48,000) or the Sharing Platter (S$11.80, IDR $138,000) comprising fries, onion rings, popcorn chicken and more!

10. Level Up Coffee and Floating Bar
Level Up Coffee and Floating Bar, Batam’s first late-night floating cafe and bar, is one of the cafes that I’d personally want to visit. You can unwind and sip on mocktails whilst catching a stunning view of the sunset as evening falls.
Even better, they have super affordable mains like Nasi Goreng Kampung (S$3.30, IDR $38,000) and Sirloin Steak for just S$8.40 (IDR $98,000).
If you’re up for it, you might even get to take a ride on the canoe to enjoy the picturesque view.
