The Japanese steakhouse from Hong Kong has gained a bit of a cult following since its arrival here in Singapore, with its signature teppan steak dishes served at value-for-money prices. And now, there is one more location that existing fans and first-timers alike can visit to indulge in their mouthwatering, sizzling menu. 

Beyond the signature items Bari Bari Steak is already known for, the steakhouse is introducing exclusive new teppan creations at the VivoCity outlet. This includes the Premium Buta Teppan (S$21.90), featuring succulent, high-quality chestnut-fed pork cuts seasoned and seared to perfection. 

Another new item is the Yakiniku Beef Teppan (S$22.90), with its thinly sliced beef short plate glazed in a savoury marinade. For those of you who prefer poultry, the Jumbo Chicken Leg Teriyaki Teppan (S$20.90) might be your go-to — you will get a grilled whole chicken leg dipped in teriyaki sauce.

Want something less ‘meaty’? Opt for the Tokusen White Fish Fillet Teppan (S$19.90), which looks to be the Japanese steakhouse’s take on fish and chips. Meat-free eaters also have an option in the form of the Truffle Plant-Based Hamburg Teppan (S$19.90), which consists of hamburger steak made from plant-based protein and a flavour that is elevated with truffle sauce.

A Fresh Line-up

Caffe Fernet has unveiled new food and drinks menus inspired by the flavours of Italy’s coastline. New additions begin with the Tomato & Ricotta Bruschetta (S$18), followed by a trio of crudos that offer a fresh start to the meal. The Salmon Crudo (S$22) is brightened with passion fruit and Taggiasca olives for a sweet-savoury balance, while the Tuba Crudo (S$24) brings gentle heat from Calabrian chilli and freshness from the mint. The Hamachi Crudo (S$29) rounds out the selection with crisp fennel and pickled celery. 

Heartier dishes showcase the kitchen’s modern Italian approach, from the tender Iberico Pork Pluma (S$29) with salsa verde to the Paccheri Tuna Bolognese (S$35), where tuna, squid, tomato, and lobster stock lend coastal character to a comforting pasta dish. Completing the selection are the Chicken Scarpariello (S$40) and the Pomfret Piccata (S$48), pan-seared and finished in vibrant butter, white wine, and zesty lemon sauce. 

If you’re heading down for lunch, do check out their Weekday and Weekend & PH Lunch Sets, with a two-course meal priced at S$40 or a three-course meal at S$46. Do note that prices are subject to GST and service charge. The menu also caters to a range of dietary preferences, with dedicated options for Vegetarians, Kids, and Gluten-Free diners.

Did someone say daily Happy Hour? Raise your glass from opening until 7.30pm and enjoy a marvellous selection of cocktails at S$16, including the classic Aperol Spritz, Strawberry Frosé, and CF Negroni, plus wines by the glass (S$14) and beer (S$12).

Fireworks and National Day Feast

Looking for a place to celebrate National Day and get front-row views of Marina Bay’s fireworks display? We got to explore most of these artworks at Marina Bay and Raffles Place ahead of the official opening on 5 June 2026, and found some pleasant surprises. If you’re wondering whether you should visit i Light Singapore 2026, we’ve got you covered.

Take a look at what we believe are the best photo spots and interactive installations at this year’s event, and decide for yourself if it’s worth heading down yourself.

Market Cycles

For context, we started our night walk at the Bayfront Event Space, located right outside the entrance to The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Heading in the direction of the Red Dot Design Museum, one of the first installations we came across was Market Cycles by Singaporeans Tan Mei Yee and Ng Choon Wee.

This is a simple light art installation, made up of stacks of plastic crates you would see daily at wet markets. Yet, due to the way it is positioned, it provides many different angles for photos. Whether you prefer to be seated or standing, among the crates or in front of them, be creative and take your best shot! 

Let’s Fish the Sun!

Near to Market Cycles, at the Lower Boardwalk area, is probably one of the most interesting installations at i Light Singapore 2026. Let’s Fish the Sun! by Chinese artist Wentao Wang presents a Sun-like luminous orb that you can lift and lower. 

Visitors can do this by reeling in a device that resembles a giant fishing rod. As you lower or elevate the ‘Sun’, its light will change between deep reds and warm oranges. 

We expect that there will be queues lined up for this interactive artwork — because how often do you get to play with something like that? Beyond the interesting mechanics, you can also take photos and videos from multiple angles to create that optical illusion of you ‘fishing the Sun’.  

Infinite Graffiti 

If you haven’t already noticed, interaction is a huge focus for this year’s i Light Singapore, which is very fitting for its movement-inspired theme. And nothing shows this more than Infinite Graffiti from Canada.

This digital canvas allows anyone to grab a spray can and produce their own graffiti art without any physical paint involved. The technology is not just genius but responsive — it feels like you’re holding an actual spray can, pressing down an actual nozzle, while the paint follows your every move without delay.

The best part? Because it’s digital, you can always undo your mistakes or choose different colours and paint textures. A few people can also paint at the same time, filling up the wall with diverse creations. Once you’re done, you can even scan a QR code to download and keep your artwork for memories. 

RESONORA

Here’s another one we thought was interesting. RESONORA by OSTUDIO and Dearista Nooria Kusuma from Indonesia is an interactive installation that makes use of sound. It picks up sounds from the environment and turns them into light.

There is also a loudspeaker you can speak (or shout) into. Watch as your voice changes the lights and colours of the installation in real time, then walk through it to take some close-up photos.  

Sliced

Out of all the installations, we would argue that this is the one with the most cinematic photo opportunities. Stepping into Sliced, created by Encor Studio from Switzerland, puts you in a scene straight out of Dune and Interstellar. 

When taken at the right angles, your photos will make you look like you walked through a passage of time or a mysterious pyramid structure. Don’t miss this immersive art installation that just oozes aura.

Barbershop Wonderland

Barbershop Wonderland is exactly what it sounds like. This long series of tall, colourful, bright barbershop poles is just screaming for you to take photos with it. The creation of Jeon Byeong Sam from South Korea, this mesmerising light installation is located at Clifford Square and is hard to miss.

But this is more than just a light display — we were surprised to discover it is interactive too! These barbershop lights are equipped with sensors that detect movement and only activate momentarily when someone passes by.

Naturally, many of us, adults and kids included, ran along the row of lights to watch it light up one by one. Seeing the lights follow us was a fun and satisfying experience, and you should definitely try it. In terms of ‘play’ factor, this is up there with Infinite Graffiti.

Arch Flower

The final light art installation on our journey was Arch Flower. This artwork by Cyril Lancelin from France is inspired by the tropical gardens of Singapore. From afar, it looks like a flower. Close-up, it’s a gradient world of pink and green.

This is the only i Light Singapore 2026 art piece located at Raffles Place, specifically Raffles Place Park, so make sure not to miss it if you want to check off every installation on the itinerary. 

It is slightly further from the rest of the installations and just requires a short walk to get to, but is also conveniently located right outside Raffles Place MRT station. Perfect for those of you who need to travel via the North-South Line or East-West Line.

If you live in the North-East area of Singapore, there’s good news for you. The Sports Arina (TSA) has recently opened its Jalan Kayu facility, bringing together a collection of spaces for different sports and activities in one hub.

What’s Open at TSA @ Jalan Kayu

Indoor padel courts

One of the first things you will notice when you step into TSA @ Jalan Kayu is a series of padel courts, easily recognised by their transparent ‘glass cages’. For those of you who want to expand your range of racket sports, perhaps it’s time to give this increasingly popular sport a go. 

Combining elements of tennis and squash, padel might potentially become the next craze in Singapore after pickleball. Its courts are pretty unique in their setup, which means they are not as common as other racket sport facilities in Singapore. So, these new courts at TSA @ Jalan Kayu are definitely a win, giving those of us who want to try or play the sport more often more locations to do so.

TSA @ Jalan Kayu’s padel courts are situated in a spacious, fully sheltered area. Big fans at the top and openings at the side allow maximum airflow, creating a cooling environment amidst long games. There are also comfortable seating areas where you can chill while watching your friends play or while waiting for your turn.

Air-conditioned pickleball courts

Air conditioning and pickleball courts — name a more iconic duo. Most pickleball courts in Singapore are either exposed to the elements or are incredibly competitive to book if they are indoors. And of course, finding air-conditioned courts is even harder.

Thankfully, there are more options available now at TSA @ Jalan Kayu. There are 10 pickleball courts available for booking here. All of these courts are housed in one enclosed, air-conditioned hall, separated by mesh dividers.

This might be one of the most comfortable pickleball facilities we’ve seen, and the prices for bookings are pretty reasonable, too. Booking fees for the public start at S$25/hr for off-peak periods and S$35/hr at peak periods.

Table tennis academy

If you’re someone who prefers something even more fast-paced and close-up, head over to the Feng Tianwei International Table Tennis Academy (FTTA), located near the padel courts. Here, you can book a table starting at S$10/hr on weekdays and S$20/hr on weekends.

Want to take the sport seriously and even play professionally one day? You can sign up for courses with certified trainers and receive expert coaching. For more information on classes and training programmes, visit the FTTA website.

Other facilities 

If you still can’t get enough of racket sports, you’ll be happy to know that there are also badminton courts available for booking at TSA @ Jalan Kayu. But beyond the sports facilities, what makes this facility special is also a couple of other inviting spaces you can find here.

For those of you who want to recover after an intense game or a long day at work, consider visiting Bathhouse. You can choose to find rest in an ice bath, a sauna, or a magnesium salt pool. For all the pilates enthusiasts, you can also check out WEmbrace Pilates, a Reformer Pilates studio located right beside Bathhouse. 

Coming Soon to TSA @ Jalan Kayu

While the existing facilities at TSA @ Jalan Kayu already make it a great sports hub, it isn’t actually complete yet. During our visit, we noticed areas that were still temporarily closed off or undergoing construction.

This includes Sports Schooling, founded by Olympic gold medalist Joseph Schooling. When open, it will operate a Swim Lab for children ages 3 and above. Lessons will be conducted in a heated learner pool so that kids can progressively pick up swimming.

New futsal courts of different sizes will also be opened to the public soon, providing another space where football players can book for their friendly matches. A refurbished basketball court will also be open, adding another sport you can enjoy here.

Accessibility and special rates

If you’re visiting TSA @ Jalan Kayu, one of the best ways to travel there is via the Sengkang LRT network. Just make sure you are on the right loop that brings you to Thanggam LRT station, which is located right outside the sports facility.

For those of you looking to play pickleball, padel or badminton, you would have to download Playtomic from the App Store or Google Play and make your court bookings via the app.

If you are a resident of the Jalan Kayu SMC, make sure to drop by the Booking Office at TSA @ Jalan Kayu and get yourself verified. This will allow you to enjoy special discounted rates for most facility bookings, which can range from 10% to 20% off.

Interactive installations

One of the highlights of i Light Singapore 2026 is the interactive artworks and installations. Visitors are welcome not just to take photos of the captivating displays but also to be part of creating the art they see.

Let’s Fish the Sun!

One of the displays I would love to check out is Let’s Fish the Sun! by Wentao Wang, located at Marina Bay Lower Boardwalk. Apparently, you will be able to “reel in” the sun with a fishing rod and “reverse” the sunset. I guess this artwork is perfect for those of us who never wake up early enough to catch the sunrise.

Infinite Graffiti

It’s probably going to be chaotic if I get involved, since I can’t draw. But for those of you who can, Infinite Graffiti by Graffiti+ will be the perfect canvas to express your creativity. Well, even if you only think you can draw, just give it a try!

Located at the entrance of Marina Bay Link Mall, this five-metre-long digital graffiti wall is where visitors can use sensor-activated spray cans to create graffiti together according to their imagination.

Artwork by local design talents 

I am proud to ‘support local’ when it comes to appreciating the work of Singaporean creatives. Because who else can capture the Singapore spirit with art better than them? 

Steps

When walking along the Marina Boulevard waterfront during i Light Singapore 2026, be sure to keep a lookout for Steps by Nawal Bte Azhar. This set of glowing staircases symbolises Singapore’s progress and our nation’s continuing story.

Market Cycles

Another installation to explore is Market Cycles by Tan Mei Yee and Ng Choon Wee. Situated at the Mist Walk, this light display utilises everyday wet market plastic crates to form an immersive luminous artwork. Talk about finding beauty in the ordinary.

Festival Village 

GastroBeats 2026

In case you missed it, GastroBeats is making its return to Bayfront Event Space from 5 to 28 June as part of i Light Singapore’s festival village. Bringing together food, music and sports, this will be a great place to wind down, chill and dine after exploring i Light Singapore 2026.

Adventures

Canopy Glider

What makes Rainforest Wild Adventure different from other wildlife parks is the sense of freedom and spontaneity. You will get to roam as freely as the animals, and nothing highlights this more than the Canopy Glider.

This Adventure+ experience, one of many included in your admission, will take you above the trees, allowing you to enjoy the Afro-tropical landscapes of Rainforest Wild Adventure East.

Ravine Swing

If you’re looking for something more thrilling, take a ride on the Ravine Swing. You will soar eight metres above the ground, with clear views of the eastern bongo and red river hog habitats. 

Split Rock Summit

For those of you who want to challenge your fear of heights or just love rock climbing, why not scale the Split Rock Summit? This 11-metre-high adventure will overlook Lemur Land, giving you a glimpse of Madagascar’s wildlife. 

Wildlife

From the animals we’ve mentioned so far, you can probably sense a theme going on. Rainforest Wild Adventure East is inspired by Afro-tropical and Madagascan landscapes and will be home to 58 species upon opening.

Okapi 

One of the species worth mentioning is the okapi, which will be making its Southeast Asian debut. This endangered species, which has similarities to a zebra but is actually related to the giraffe, originates from the dense forests of the Congo in Central Africa.

Rainforest Wild Adventure will be the only zoological park in Southeast Asia where you can find the okapi, so make sure not to miss it! Other animals to look out for include the pygmy hippo, Nile lechwe and Diana monkey. 

Entry tickets for locals cost S$50 for adults, S$35 for children and S$25 for seniors. These include access to both the western and eastern zones, as well as up to 9 Adventure+ activities. On weekends and public holidays, admission only includes up to 5 adventures. On all days, there will be a free shuttle bus service between the two zones. 

From forest treks to treetop walks to cavern trails, Rainforest Wild Adventure has something for adventurers of all ages. Plan an adventure with your family and friends this May!

Slurp Your Oysters 

One of the vendors making an appearance at GastroBeats 2026 is Slurp Your Oysters, a crowd favourite known for its fresh seafood offerings. While its official festival menu has yet to be revealed, previous editions featured plump raw oysters paired with flavourful sauces like Thai chilli, alongside unique creations such as Negitoro Pie Tee. Seafood lovers can definitely expect a fresh and indulgent treat here.

My Cow Bae by The Swag Social

My Cow Bae will also be at GastroBeats 2026, serving the trendy beef cubes. Some common menu features include the Yakiniku Ribeye Beef Cubes (S$15/120g), Shoestring Fries (S$10), Chicken Pops (S$10), and more sinful snacks. 

Jett Barbecue 

Jett Barbecue is a homegrown Singapore smokehouse known for its authentic Texas-style BBQ, specialising in ultra-tender, 14-hour smoked USDA Prime beef “dino” ribs. The rich, smoky flavours and fall-off-the-bone texture make it the ultimate hearty bite, perfect for fuelling a night of festive carnival fun.

Siblings Gelato 

Festivals can get real hot and sticky, especially in Singapore. Luckily, Siblings Gelato will be there to cool you off if you need an escape from the heat. The artisanal gelato brand carries a range of fun flavours, featuring Cotton Candy Cloud, Apple Pie, and Salted Gula Melaka Pecan. Make sure you visit them for a sugar boost when the festival fatigue starts to set in.

Papi’s Tacos

Papi’s Tacos is a vibrant, homegrown Mexican taqueria in Singapore known for bringing authentic, street-style flavours from Mexico to the heart of the city. Helmed by a Mexican chef, it serves up bold, flavourful tacos made with fresh ingredients and traditional techniques. Make sure to get signatures, such as the Quesabirria Tacos (S$28) or the Papi’s Nachos (S$23).

In fact, from 4 May 2026 to 17 May 2026, one of our local Chinese Dance companies, the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre, is holding its 11th edition of the Chinese Dance Fiesta. This year, the festival will showcase 6 Chinese dance performances held across Singapore, as well as workshops and discussion sessions with the esteemed Professor Ma Jiaqin, China’s first-grade choreographer and founding dean of Nanjing University of the Arts’ Dance Academy.

If you’re looking for some cultural enrichment to brighten up your life, here’s what to expect. 

Chinese Dance Performances 

On 8 May 2026, catch hardworking young dancers from primary, secondary and tertiary school groups such as Ngee Ann Polytechnic, St Tanjong Katong Primary School, and Dance Ensemble Singapore, celebrate Chinese heritage with captivating performances. Don’t underestimate them because of their age; these youths are just as passionate as any adult dancers.

On 9 May 2026, local troupes and companies will be putting up a show, allowing us an opportunity to support our homegrown talents. As these artists continue to preserve Singapore’s traditions and cultures, make sure you head down to witness the rewards of their hard work!

These performances are taking place in Esplanade’s outdoor theatre. Find more information here!

Most of these shows are free with no registration required except for the VivoCity Amphitheatre. Although it’s already fully booked, you may still join the waitlist for an opportunity to watch dancers from Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and Sheng Hong Arts Institute perform.

Dance workshop and talks

Beyond the performances, the festival offers 2 introductory workshops to Kunwu Dance, a contemporary style of classical Chinese dance. 

The first is a 4-day intensive (S$300) catered to experienced dancers. The second is a 2-hour beginner-friendly workshop (S$10) held on 9 May 2026 that introduces attendees to the foundations of Kunwu Dance. If dance and Chinese culture are something you’ve always wanted to learn more about, this is a unique opportunity to experience them in-depth.

There’s also a 30-minute talk-demonstration, where Professor Ma shares insights into the philosophy and techniques behind Kunwu Dance. It’s perfect if you’re keen to learn more but can’t join the dance workshop.

As a cornerstone of local culture, many hawkers have quietly preserved generational recipes that have stood the test of time. While many of us grew up enjoying their fare, few truly realise the history and significance behind each plate. 

A stall rooted in heritage 

Xin Sheng Ngoh Hiong Prawn Cracker is one example. The stall started as a humble street food stand in the 1950s, selling its food out of a simple wooden cart. Today, the family business has passed on to its 3rd generation. Their two stalls are now manned by 2nd-generation owner Anthony Low, who runs the store in Boon Lay, and 3rd-generation owner Matthew Liu, who runs the store in Taman Jurong. 

To this family, their food serves as a connection to the older generation of Singaporeans, many of whose childhoods were shaped by these traditional, crispy golden snacks. Even now, as the culinary scene evolves to accommodate new trends and dietary fads, they take pride in sharing their traditional roots while embracing change to stay relevant.

Fresh from the wok

The Ngoh Hiong store draws customers in with an appealing display that includes Prawn Crackers, Taiwanese Sausages, Chicken Wings, and, of course, Ngoh Hiong—a Hokkien or Teochew dish made with minced pork or prawn, wrapped in tofu skin and deep-fried.

Customers can grab a pair of tongs and pile their plates with their favourites. The selection is then deep-fried in a massive wok, cut into bite-sized pieces, and served piping hot with a side of chilli and sweet sauce. To complement the fritters, the store sells Bee-Hoon, whose mellow flavour and soft texture perfectly balance out the flavourful fried bites.

Signature picks 

If you visit, some must-try dishes include the signature Ngoh Hiong, which has a juicy, meaty centre that explodes with flavour behind a crisp exterior. Their Crispy Prawn Cracker offers a satisfying crunch along with a delightful briny taste. The Spring Rolls and Yam Rolls offer a delightful contrast with their light, crisp exterior and soft, flavourful inside. While deep-fried, they still maintain an airiness and don’t feel too greasy.

This special Pokémon Brass Concert is part of a larger celebration marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan. Beyond being a standalone event, it also complements the orchestra’s main ticketed performance at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 29 April 2026, conducted by Tatsuya Shimono and featuring pianist Kyohei Sorita. 

Founded in 1926, the NHK Symphony Orchestra is widely regarded as one of Japan’s most prestigious orchestras, known for its excellence and international presence. This special performance will feature a dynamic brass ensemble, including trumpets, horns, trombones, and tubas. Through these instruments, the musicians bring a bold and vibrant soundscape to the familiar Pokémon melodies, offering a unique interpretation that has both power and nuance.

Alongside the playful Pokémon themes, the ensemble will also present timeless classical pieces that showcase the versatility and expressive range of brass instruments. Audiences can expect a mix of refined compositions and light-hearted favourites suitable for all ages. A special appearance by Pikachu adds an interactive and whimsical element, making it especially appealing for families and younger audiences.
