If you’re looking for an express bus from Johor Bahru checkpoint to SG, this yellow bus does it from just S$0.75

Being a crucial gateway between two nations, Johor Bahru Checkpoint seems to be a place that never sleeps. With the Chinese New Year period approaching, it is definitely going to get busier there.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who is always on the lookout for the most affordable ways to cross the border back to Singapore, and guess what I found!

For the frequent travellers between JB and Singapore, you might be more familiar with SMRT bus service 950, SBS 170, SBS 170x, or even SBS 160, but have you tried the CW Causeway Link bus?

Its iconic yellow body is hard to miss in a sea of grey vehicles, so imagine my surprise when I learnt that although many have seen and heard of this bus, not many have actually boarded it back to Singapore.

Just like any bus service between Johor Bahru and Singapore, you will be able to see the pick-up area for the buses almost immediately once you head down the escalator from the customs.

Of course, I will answer everyone’s burning question: how much is the ride?

From Johor Bahru Checkpoint to Kranji MRT, it is only S$0.74 (RM2.60). The other two drop-off locations to Singapore are Queen Street Terminal (S$1.38, RM4.80) and Newton Circus (S$1.32, RM4.60).

These prices are super affordable and when you consider the benefits alongside it, it makes it even more worth it!

And if you’re wondering how to pay, acceptable payment modes are VISA, cash, and a ManjaLink card — basically a prepaid travel card like EZ link!

The Causeway Link buses have a pretty short waiting time to board. It also has plenty of seats for you to choose from so you don’t have to fight the crowds to chope one.

If you’re lucky, sometimes you’re able to grab two seats with just one ticket!

Sometimes waiting for the bus in this humid Southeast Asia weather is really not the vibe, but at least Causeway Link’s buses are fully air-conditioned to give you a smooth and comfortable ride back home. You don’t know how many times I’ve perspired because of the bus being packed like sardines, a faulty air-con, or just both.

Hearsay this is the fastest method from JB to Singapore, what do you think?
