A theme park offering immersive attractions from horror mazes to murder mysteries and more will be opening in Tokyo this 2024

by June Ngooi

I am going to disclaim by saying that I have not always been the biggest fan of theme parks. Mostly because I’m not really a fan of the crowds.

But when I saw Immersive Fort Tokyo, an upcoming large-scale theme park set to open in spring 2024, it’s like I finally found a theme park that I actually want to go to.

Do you know how there are those “Choose Your Own Adventure” books or plot-heavy video games where your choices affect the way the story progresses and it leads to multiple endings?

That is essentially the concept of Immersive Fort Tokyo.

Instead of a traditional theme park where you are the third-party observer watching the show, this time you are part of the plot, providing for a more immersive experience.

You being more involved in the experience just means that you will be able to witness a murder case, or be engaged in the middle of a gunfight, in these attractions. Basically, your choices and decisions matter in the moment!

Previously a shopping mall that was designed like an European city, the now revamped shopping mall retains its original architecture for this theme park.

Immersive Fort Tokyo will have 12 immersive attractions, six shops and restaurants, spanning across 30,000 square metres.

Some of these attractions really caught my eye especially the Immersive Horror Maze: Jack the Ripper only because I’m a huge fan of horror myself.

The setting goes like this: it is 19th century London and you witness a murder done by none other than the infamous Jack the Ripper himself. Thus begins your frantic survival to run from him and avoid being slashed to pieces.

Truly bringing fear to a whole other level, don’t you think?

Anime fans will also be in for a treat with the Immersive Rally featuring Oshi no Ko’s famous B-Komachi idol group members where you get to team up with them to solve mysteries together!

Even fanfiction cannot beat this experience, I bet.

How can we miss out on classic mysteries like the Immersive Theatre: The Sherlock Baker Street Case? Freely roam this 19th century London setting and become involved in a number of occurrences, giving the unique experience of being involved. Who knows, maybe you will be the one solving the case, being the victim, or maybe being the suspect even!

Of course, details are still sparse at the moment but you can always stay updated with the progress of this theme park through the official website! I know I will.

Which immersive attraction do you think you will want to experience first?
