Sandbox VR virtual reality experience
Dubbed the award winner of 2020 Travellers’ Choice, Sandbox VR is a popular virtual reality gaming experience conveniently located at level five of Orchard Central.
Different advanced technologies are combined to create a fully immersive experience for everyone. Virtual Reality headsets would be used for you to enter the virtual world, while the Motion Tracking devices let you see and interact with your group mates during the game. There are also Haptic vests that allow you to feel the damage done to you within the game.
Virtual reality gaming experience
The whole experience would take one hour. It starts with a 15 minutes pre-brief session followed by 30 minutes of virtual reality game experience. After that, you’ll have 15 minutes of debriefing and the video reels of you fighting it out with your friends will be showcased.
Yes, you will get the free videos of you and your groupmates inside the VR during gameplay. Upon request, the Sandbox VR staff can also help you to take extra pictures or videos of your session as well.
There are 5 unique game experiences, each packed with different storylines to suit various thrill levels. To help you with your quest, we’ve ranked them from 1 to 5, with number 1 being the scariest game in Sandbox VR.
1. Deadwood Mansion
Deadwood Mansion is the very first hyperreality escape experience ever created. With Haptics technology, you can actually feel the sensation of undead zombies in the mansion reaching out to touch you. If you’ve never known fear, this memory may be the one that haunts you in your nightmares.
A test to see if you and your friends can survive the zombie apocalypse, this game is the most intense and rated the scariest in Sandbox VR. In fact, it is rated M18 for the amount of violence the game has.
Select your arsenal from the choice of dual pistols, machine guns, or even combat rifles. Choose wisely — these will aid your survival in the game.
2. Amber Sky 2088
In Amber Sky 2088, you’re a heroic Android that is equipped with futuristic weapons and robotic enhancements to defend Earth against the invading alien swarm.
The journey will take place in the futuristic city of New Hong Kong and you can soar through the clouds via Earth’s last standing space elevator. Take the chance to take in the cityscape, the curvature of Earth and space while you escort a mysterious package into outer space.
Do note that this game is rated Advisory 16 hence, it is unsuitable for persons under 16 years old.
3. Curse of Davy Jones
If you’ve watched Pirates of the Caribbean before, the Curse of Davy Jones would be familiar to you. The experience allows you to battle on the high seas against a variety of spooky supernatural creatures while hunting down the lost treasure of Davy Jones. You’ll get to choose your pirate character and find the treasure before the supernaturals claim your souls — here’s your chance to be Jack Sparrow.
This game experience involves some puzzle-solving stages, and is rated Advisory 16 as well.
4. Star Trek: Discovery
Based on the ever-popular Star Trek: Discovery series, this game allows you to fully immerse yourself in the world of Star Trek. As you’re aboard the U.S.S. Discovery Starfleet ship, you’ll get to interact with other Starfleet officers such as Sylvia Tilly.
As an Away team, you’ll have to investigate a mysterious distress signal originating from an unexplored alien world. Using the iconic Starfleet phaser and tricorder, engage in exhilarating shootouts in a bid to survive the game.
5. Unbound Fighting League (UFL)
Whether we’re male or female, it’s safe to say that we’ve all played our favourite fighting games on gaming consoles before. If you’ve wondered what it’s like to be within the game, here’s your chance to experience it in a UFL game.
Split into teams, you will become a futuristic gladiator and battle your friends with an amazing arsenal of weapons such as laser swords and claws. This player versus player fighting experience combines physical sports and esports, so you can fight without being limited by the confines of reality.
With full-body motion capture, your virtual body becomes your real body. You are limitlessly unbound within the game, so go beyond the traditional norms of game and sports!
