Just opened: Chez Suzette is a cosy new cafe at Keong Siak with elegant European vibes

by Evan Mua

Keong Saik is perhaps one of the coolest hoods in Singapore, filled with hipster spots like Potato Head Folk, trendy bakeries like Keong Saik Bakery, and a star-studded line-up of Michelin restaurants. Now you can add another spot to your Keong Saik itineraries — Chez Suzette, a new cafe that looks fabulously chic.

While they’re still in their soft launch phase, their gorgeous decor looks perfect for an afternoon out to sip a cup of coffee while basking in the vibe of stylish shophouses that line the street.

You’d spot Chez Suzette from a mile away for their striking array of seats perched outside for their al fresco dining area. Elegant splashes of beige complement the white tables, while peppered by plush touches of greens — very chic, almost like you’re in Paris.

Glass panelled doors and windows let plenty of natural light into the warmly lit inside sitting, which boasts of both an inviting counter filled with bakes and a bar lit by a stylish neon sign.

Aside from the dining area, you can also as nestle into the mini-library upstairs with a collection of donated literature that will pair well with your coffee.

As far as the menu at Chez Suzette goes, fresh bakes and artisan coffee will be the perfect companion to the European vibes. Choices of caffeine include Americano (S$4.50), Flat White (S$5.50), Cappucino (S$5.50), and Mocha (S$6).

More typical brunch choices are also available, including the classic Eggs Benedict with Ham or Salmon (S$16), Avocado Toast ($14), and Pancakes with Berries and a choice of chocolate or maple syrup (S$16).

While desserts like the Homemade Cookies (S$8) which come with a choice of hot chocolate or milk shake will satiate any sweet tooth.

But if you’re planning to head there for a fancy dinner — or impress a date with the dreamy vibes — you can also order off Chez Suzette’s starters and mains menu. The owner and founder Suzette used to work at 3 Michelin-starred Joël Robuchon so the French food sounds extra promising.

Nothing says French cuisine much like Duck Confit (S$29), Duck Rilette (S$15) or Escargots ($16). You can also grab some drinks for a smashing good time with your dining partner, with a Cocktail menu offering pretty reasonably priced cocktails such as Spritz (S$12), Gin & Tonic (S$12) and Negroni (S$16).
