Cuddle with adorable chow chows, corgis & more at Chow-Q Cafe in Johor Bahru

by Trinity Sun

Although Singapore has plenty of cat and dog cafes, Johor Bahru has Chow-Q, an adorable dog cafe where you can pet fluffy dogs like chow chows and corgis, while snacking on yummy bites like fries, nuggets and more.

Located just 20 minutes from the Causeway, next to Sutera Mall, the cafe is playfully designed, with grass flooring and swing chairs that the dogs enjoy playing with.

The best part is that there’s no entrance fee to play with the doggos — all you have to do is buy a drink (one per person), and you can spend the afternoon cuddling with your new furry friends.

The cafe has four breeds of dogs: chow chows, corgis, giant poodles, and shiba inus, all of which are floofy and friendly in their own ways!

Whichever breed you enjoy playing with the most, all of them are happy for visitors to bring them more smiles, and of course, treats, which you can purchase from the counter. You can even bring your own pet to the cafe for a playdate — the resident dogs will be more than happy to make new friends!

Try Chow-Q’s boba milk teas (S$4), which come in glass bottles printed with a cute chow chow decal. You can get them regular flavoured or with green tea added to them, topped with chewy boba pearls. If you’re in the mood for something more fruity, their fruit tea series has refreshing tropical flavours including grapefruit, mango and peach.

If you get hungry, the cafe also offers a selection of finger food – from fries to chicken wings, all for less than S$10

For your next weekend getaway with the family, why not drive across the Causeway and check out Chow-Q Cafe?

Editor’s Note:

We enjoy animal-related establishments as it gives us the opportunity to interact with our favourite animals – and as animal lovers, we can’t ignore the ethical issues that revolve around this. From animal cafes to pet shops and catteries, there are a wide range of ethical concerns when it comes to animal welfare such as the treatment of the animals, or ethical breeding at pet shops and catteries.

As we share some really great animal cafes, pet shops and catteries to visit, we strongly urge everyone to treat these animals gently, and if you have seen signs that the animals are not being well taken care of, please highlight it to us immediately. If you are considering getting a pet, we would also encourage you to consider adoption options first if possible. There are plenty of lovable animals waiting for a good home at places like SoSD, Cat Welfare Society, and the SPCA!
