When Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES jointly unveiled their Christmas activities packed with ice skating, vespa rides, and other festive happenings, one thing was missing from the list — their popular Dome Dining. It’s now officially back, happening on the artificial lawn of Capitol Singapore‘s Outdoor Plaza.
11 domes available for booking
Scattered across the artificial lawn and around Capitol’s Singing Tree, there will be 11 domes this year available for booking. The domes have igloo-esque silhouettes, so even if it’s not physically possible for you to dine at the North Pole this Christmas, you can at least pretend you are with the help of this set-up.
Each dome is also furnished a little differently — some adorned with sofas, while others have chairs for seats instead. If you’re in the tents at around 7pm though, you should be able to catch the snowfall happening nightly, really sealing in the winter experience if that’s what you’re gunning for.
Not to mention, this glamping-like experience reminds us particularly of this staycation experience at the zoo and Changi Festive Village’s glamping by the runway. While the former is already sold out, there are still slots to make a day out of Changi Airport’s offering.
Equipped with portable air-conditioning
And before you fret over the possibility of these enclosed domes being a cesspool of heat, I’m dispelling all fear with the fact that each dome is equipped with portable air-conditioning. You can order take out from any of Capitol’s F&B merchants, enjoy them from the comfort of the tents, and snap away for the ‘gram or TikTok.
From S$30/2 hours
While last year’s installation was free to use as long as you’ve purchased F&B from any of the mall’s merchants, this year’s will be chargeable, with a time limit of 2 hours. A dome can be booked at S$30 each and can seat up to a group of five.
Despite the cost, this only means that they will (hopefully) be easier to snag — but do note that the event only runs until 26 December 2021, so there’s little time to waste if you’re going to catch a session in the dome.
