It seems Kumoya is on a mission to bring back all of our favourite anime characters from childhood. First, they had a Crayon Shinchan pop-up earlier this year and now, their Orchard outlet will be transformed into a Kumoya x Hello Kitty hotpot cafe from 1st September 2021.

While Hello Kitty is quite the polar opposite of the cheeky Shinchan, she’s equally adorable in her own way and a cafe filled with Hello Kitty-themed decorations and dishes sounds like we’re in for a sweet dose of cuteness.

With its new facelift, Kumoya’s interior is given a few splashes of baby pink and sky blue, with the vibrant colours acting as a pleasant backdrop for the slew of Hello Kitty decals and Japanese motifs.

Similar to other Kumoya pop-ups in the past, this pop-up is designed in collaboration with award-winning local bento artist Little Miss Bento. Why change a winning formula?

One thing that’s different in this Kumoya Hello Kitty Pop-up is the focus on hotpot instead of just regular cafe fare and desserts. There’s even exclusive Hello Kitty shabu shabu merchandise on sale if you want to spruce up your home set-up.

For S$24.90, you can get the Shabu Shabu Set with a choice of soup base, along with meat, seafood, or vegetarian dish and one dipping sauce. You also get a choice of carbs in the form of Hello Kitty shaped rice or bright pink noodles coloured with beetroot.

On the menu, you can find many popular items such as Silky Tofu Fish Cakes (S$9.30) and Kawaii Hello Kitty Donut Fishcake (S$14.90) given kawaii Hello Kitty spins by Kumoya that will look fresh on your feed with those VSCO filters.

It’s not really a Kumoya experience without some beautifully crafted desserts and they have 3 special Hello Kitty-themed desserts this time around — Apple Mousse Cake (S$12.90), Strawberry Pudding (S$11.90), and Strawberry Swiss Roll (S$11.90).
