There is a new lifestyle mall that has opened in the heart of Bangkok spanning over an area of 160,000 sqm. One Bangkok has over 900 stores featuring food and beverage establishments, art spaces, hotels, and new and unique flagship outlets such as Swatch, Jim Thompsons, Skechers, and more to provide an all-rounded lifestyle experience.

Psst, this mall is only 15 minutes away from Siam Square, so you can hit both places up in a day’s trip. Though with the plethora of offerings, you may not finish browsing everything they have to provide.

One Bangkok Retail consists of three elements: Parade, THE STOREYS, and lastly, POST 1928, which will open at a later date.

Parade is the largest space at 85,000 sqm, with a community-centric focus and aims to provide shoppers with a lively shopping journey with stunning artistic interiors by Hayon Studio. Guests can anticipate a variety of apparel, cuisine, and entertainment options for all ages. Honestly, this mall seems the most suited for me considering I’m not a huge shopaholic.

THE STOREYS is more fashion-based, standing at 35,000 sqm while featuring contemporary local and international fashion brands. Of course, there will also be a dedicated beauty and food zone.

Lastly, POST 1928 is for those who like the finer things in life, covering 40,000 sqm. Guests can enjoy a select offerings of high-end stores and fine-dining establishments.

Furthermore, they can also look forward to luxury brands consisting of fine watches, jewellery boutiques, custom services, Michelin-starred restaurants, and a space to watch experiential art.

Other offerings include family-friendly establishments, such as HarborLand — the first indoor waterpark in the city. Another activity to look out for is the One Ultra Screens, which is an exclusive movie club to One Bangkok. I guarantee that your little ones won’t get bored in this mall.

Some highlights to look forward to include the iconic Japanese supermarket and food hall Mitsukoshi Depachika, SARAPAD THAI, the largest %ARABICA outlet in Thailand, Pasticceria Confetteria Cova and more.

Mega Plaza Saphan Lek enjoys the prestigious title of being ‘the largest toy mall in Bangkok’. While I wouldn’t say the mall is exactly aesthetically pretty when compared to other Bangkok malls (remember the garden-inspired one?), it has one big draw: a massive selection of POP MART toys.

From the first and fifth floor of this six-storey building, you’ll find rows upon rows of shops selling POP MART merchandise, including ones that are sold out in Singapore or are extremely rare. Limited-edition collections like KFC x Dimoo, Molly x Powerpuff Girls, and the new Twinkle Twinkle series can be found here.

And, yes, they do sell popular figurines like Labubu, Sonny Angels, and Hirono. Based on reviews online, the blind boxes can go as low as 390 baht (S$15.28), which is roughly the same price as what you’ll get from our POP MART stores here (definitely not resale).

I understand that some of y’all may have reservations about the authenticity of these figurines but according to reviews, they’re the real deal. Still, a little extra caution doesn’t hurt, so remember to scan the QR code on the packaging to be sure!

Other items you can find displayed throughout the five floors include anime and action figurines, Bearbricks, Maneki-nekos, remote control cars, vintage or retro art pieces, and even men’s and women’s clothing. And, that’s only scratching the surface.

The layout of Mega Plaza Saphan Lek feels a lot like Bugis Street, so you might find the endless selection a bit overwhelming. To make the most of it, I suggest taking it one section at a time and planning a route to avoid getting lost or accidentally doubling back to the same stores.

Since shopping can take a toll on us, you might need to recharge with some food or drinks. Head up to the sixth floor and take your pick from the many food stores around.

It seems Bangkok has learned a thing or two from Singapore when it comes to integrating greenery with architecture as this mall is a perfect example.

That’s right, it’s a garden-inspired mall. And, it’s a huge one, spanning 68,000 square metres across six levels.

No, scratch that, it’s seven levels as a rooftop garden awaits you at the top floor. Here, you can enjoy scenic views of the Pratunam area and even pray at the temple (you heard that right).

Since Bangkok is honourably known as a food paradise, it’s only right for Phenix Pratunam Mall to bank on this by offering a food-centric space for everyone.

Foodies, you’ll rejoice at the fact that there are over 200 food and beverage outlets, ranging from cafes and casual restaurants to upscale fine dining venues.

Some of Thailand’s local beloved food establishments like Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu, April’s Bakery and R-Leaw Noodle have housed themselves here, making it a convenient one-stop shop.

Looking for a place suitable for date nights? There’s the Bar Italia by Gie Gie and Nua Tair. On the other hand, Loong Mala Hotpot is the place to gather with friends and enjoy some spicy Sichuan hotpot.

As you head to the 4th floor, you’ll find one of Bangkok’s largest halal food courts. With a wide selection of cuisines available, plus stalls brimming with desserts, fruit juices, bubble teas and more, it’s impossible to whine about not having something to eat (let’s face it, that’s one of our favourite pastimes).

That’s not all as you can look forward to food bazaars and food-related events being held regularly. If you plan your trip right, you might just catch one of these events that’ll surely make your trip even more memorable.

Aside from food, there are also lifestyle shops. Get ready to shop ’til you drop — literally. These shops offer more than 2,400 brands and products, and they’re all available at wholesale prices.

2. Daddy and the Muscle Academy

Nope, it’s not a gym or wellness centre contrary to popular belief. 

It’s actually an extremely popular lifestyle shop in Bangkok with a huge variety of trendy clothes, bags, accessories, and other apparel. 

Create your brand new summer look, be it vintage coquette, Y2K streetwear or island girl, there are plenty of different aesthetic styles to try. 

Afterwards, head to the photobooth in-store to show off your fit — don’t fret if it gets too crowded as there are plenty of IG-worthy photo spots in the store.

Just a stone’s throw away from Daddy and the Muscle Academy is Nineties Club which is a Thai local brand selling Korean-inspired fashion pieces. 

This shop lowkey reminds me of a retro American diner decked in brick red and white walls and checkered posters.

There’s two levels for you to literally shop till you drop, filled with an array of cute and playful t-shirts.

MIL Toast House is a Korean cafe in Ikseon-Dong that specialises in the fluffiest soft buns and crispy cube toast. 

Well, you don’t have to travel all the way to the land of the morning calm because it has made its venture into Bangkok, more specifically Siam Square. 

Crowd favourites include the  Souffle French Toast (S$13.46, 365 baht) and Butter French Toast (S$11.98, 325 baht) alongside butter and red bean paste. 

But if you’re missing a taste of home, get the Pandan Toast (S$7, 190 baht) with a side of everyone’s all-time favourite taro custard.

7. Jaedang Samyan

Fans of moo ping, here is where you can get a zhng up version of it.

Jaedang Samyan is a cosy, hole-in-the-wall Michelin-awarded eatery that offers the most succulent Grilled Pork with Roasted Ground Rice (S$3.50, 95 baht) and Grilled Pork Neck (S$4.75, 129 baht) — are you game enough to try this?  

Of course, you have to experience the full authentic Thailand experience and get a side of tangy yet spicy Thai Papaya Salad (S$2.57, 70 baht) alongside toasted, sticky rice so it doesn’t feel too greasy.

The modern and buzzing centralwOrld — 9th largest shopping complex in the world — has over 500 stores with the biggest Apple store in Thailand. 

Although it can get rather crowded and busy, centralwOrld makes up for it as tourists get to enjoy promotions with special discounts and privileges for specific outlets (be sure to check their website as the offers change occasionally!).

15. Shibuya Pratunam

Directly opposite Platinum Fashion Mall, Shibuya Pratunam AKA Shibuya 19 is a six-storey complex. Contrary to its name, there are fewer options for fashion clothes compared to previous shopping malls in Bangkok.

Nevertheless, if you’re a fashion student, working in the retail industry or just enjoy dabbling in a little arts and crafts, the rows and rows of wholesale fabrics and textile materials at the upper floors might appeal to you.

16. Asiatique The Riverfront

It can be hard to find outdoor malls in Singapore with a scenic view. 

Luckily, Asiatique The Riverfront is an open-air riverside mall with more than 1,500 stalls. Best of all, it opens till midnight everyday with a free shuttle boat from the Sathorn Pier. 

Enjoy the nightlife with trendy stores and exotic street food like grilled crocodile (if you’re feeling brave enough). 

Otherwise, take a ride and chill at the Asiatique Sky (ferris wheel) to soak in the majestic view of Chao Phraya river.

17. ICONSIAM

Located along the banks of Chao Phraya River is the iconic (pun intended) ICONSIAM — Thailand’s second largest shopping mall with 7,000 stores including Under Armour, Watsons and a 7-storey Takashimaya.

Besides shopping, they also have some exciting performances like the 400-metre ICONIC Multimedia Water Feature Show featuring an impressive array of colours, sound and multimedia. 

Based on how popular light and water shows can be in Singapore, this is one of the shopping malls that’d definitely make a great photo spot in Bangkok.

18. DD Mall

It seems like Chatuchak Weekend Market is a natural magnet for vintage curated pieces like DD Mall which is just three minutes away — perfect for thrift-lovers. 

You’ll find many branded streetwear like Nike, Levi’s and Carhartt. For those into academia core, they also have shops selling blazers as outerwear. Find reworked or handmade pieces that start from just S$3.80 (100 baht).

Just take a stroll down Haji lane and you’ll be surprised with the amount of self-photo studios available (not that I’m complaining). From elevator theme and fisheye lens to Taylor Swift-inspired photostrips, the choices are endless!

If you have no plans of heading to Korea — the land of photobooths — why not head somewhere closer to home like Bangkok?

Located in Lido Siam Square, Sculpture Flagship offers multiple photo automats with unique concepts. Hear this out — have you heard (or visited) a cake theme photobooth with an actual cake that you can enter? 

Okay, it may not be a real cake (think plaster cakes instead). 

The Birthday Cake (S$7.20, 190 baht) photobooth is hard to miss as it’s an enormous (almost life-size) cake sculpture decorated with ribbons of icing and crimson cherries. 

Come to think of it, the quirky exterior makes for a great photo spot as well. 

Choose from their selections of templates that make it seem like you’re in the cake itself (so there’ll be more than one snack in the photo *wink*). 

Here’s the icing on the cake: the photobooth is entirely enclosed so you don’t have to worry about people walking past if you’re shy! 

Otherwise, head to the ATM Sticky Machine (S$7.20, 190 baht) if you want photo strips that look like money (except its value won’t be affected by the GST hike). 

Don on your best denim outfit for the Denim on Denim booth for just S$6.10 (160.50 baht). If you prefer to strike a more comfortable pose, you can take a seat on a literal denim bench. 

They do have some conventional booths like the Telephoto Booth (S$6.10, 160.50 baht) or The Classic ($7.20, 190 baht). Nevertheless, they still look as stylish and sleek as the other wackier photobooths — you can never go wrong with them. 

Top up an additional S$1.90 (50 baht) at The Classic for a unique keepsake, a heart keychain, and you’ll be able to literally carry your loved ones around. 

Did I mention that they also have a separate Studio Room filled with different backdrops? You’ll get to transport yourself to a flower garden or even an elegant manor that reminds me of the Bridgerton house. 

At the studio room, you’ll get to choose the S$26.10 (690 baht) package for one to two people which includes all digital files, four printed photos, and one sculpture ID card. Do prepare your poses beforehand as you only have fifteen minutes to take all the shots you want! 

Otherwise, opt for the S$33.70 (890 baht) package for three to four people that includes all digital files, eight printed photos, and two sculpture ID cards. This place is literal heaven for people who love taking photos. 

If you’re lucky, you might catch the occasional collaboration frames with K-pop artists like Red Velvet and SHINee. Currently, they offer NCT127 themed frames (S$7.20, 190 baht) till 31 March 2024 at M floor. 

Don’t miss out on this chance to snap a picture with your bias! 

Still itching to get your hands on more photo strips? Sculpture Girlfriends is located in Siam Square Soi 5, just a stone throw away from the Sculpture Flagship.

Hang out with your girlfriends and get the Regular Pass for (S$22.30, 590 baht) to visit all four booths or the Royale Pass (S$37.40, 990 baht) to visit the booths twice. 

Best of all, they have more than ten outlets around Bangkok. The photoautomat’s designs in each location may differ but you can expect them to be equally interesting.
